My husband is a talented man in many ways. One of those ways is that he is a skilled programmer. Over the past few years, he has put his skills to work by helping me start this website.

The first draft of the site was a placeholder for what was to become. He saw my potential and believed that I should have my own website, a forum to showcase my own talents and to blog if I wished. I didn’t have as much faith, so the site went untended for a few years.

That first website came to life when I still worked as an accountant. Eventually I went back to school to earn a teaching certificate in visual arts. I began to develop some of the artistic skills that I already had, and also developed new skills, like working in 3-dimensional media. I started to feel again that I had something worth showcasing.

Then in one of my classes at Eastern Michigan University last fall (ARTE 360 – Technology in Art Education), we got to design and publish our own websites to be hosted through the university (http://people.emich.edu/svanloo). That exercise gave me the confidence to finally get this website up and running.

I now own my own website. Not only do I have a website with my name in the URL, but I have taken ownership. I have updated the format, the content and even the blog posts.

But because my husband is a talented information architect as well as a talented programmer, I have decided not to put the cart before the horse. I am going to take the time to talk to him about the best way to organize the content of this website before I put much more here.

So keep checking back to my site, because I plan to keep updating it, including adding my portfolio.

Thanks, Bill (http://www.billvanloo.com/), for all of your help and encouragement in making my website a reality.
